The Willowdale Neighbourhood is situated north of Highway 401 and south of Finch Avenue. Its western boundary is Bathurst Avenue and its eastern boundary is Bayview Avenue. It's the neighbourhood most probably associated with North York in the public's mind. Along Yonge Street, it is home to North York Civic Centre, glossy new condo buildings, multi-ethnic restaurants, Government and corporate offices, shopping plazas (Sheppard Centre), and a Theatre. East of Yonge, apart from the aforementioned highrise condos, there are more retail and office complexes along Sheppard Avenue, and older bungalows mixed with brand new premium priced detached, semi-detached and townhouse infill developments. West of Yonge has seen less development over the past 10 years, and one finds older two storey homes and bungalows interspersed with apartment buildings.
Willowdale Real Estate:
The area close to Yonge Street in particular is attractive to builders and wealthy home buyers, who purchase smaller bungalows on relatively large lots to demolish them and create custom luxury homes. Prices in this area vary as expected, but the fact is this area is not cheap. In general, 1 bedroom condos along Yonge Street can be purchased in the $220K range. 2 bedroom condos are closer to $300K. Older 3 bedroom bungalows vary depending on lot size, but range from $380K up to about $600K. Newer townhomes start from over $550K. Newer detached start from close to $700K.
