(Click Map Below to Enlarge) The Cornell Village Neighbourhood

|
Cornell Village is a relatively new (within the past 10 years) Neighbourhood situated in east Markham. It is located north of Highway 407 and east of 9th Line. Its northern boundary is the new Markham Bypass which also serves as its eastern boundary. Cornell is home to many young first time buyer families just starting out and retired seniors looking to downsize. Both are drawn to its relative affordability and the innovative, inclusive real estate community design of its homes, shopping, and pathways. Part of the new urbanism initiative, the community features open spaces, parks, schools etc. all integrated into the design. This is also an area which can be readily accessed via Highway 7 or Highway 407.
Cornell Real Estate: Most of the homes in the Cornell neighbourhood are single family residences. There is choice of townhouses, detached and semi-detached homes, most less than five years old. Mattamy, Aspen Ridge and Ballantry are a few of the home builders active in this area. The homes in this neighborhood boast some of the more innovative home designs to come out of this real estate expansion. The most obvious and famous design element in Cornell is rear lane drive garages. This allows for a cleaner front to the home (with no unsightly garage in front) and a larger basement. Homes also boast 10 Ft main level ceilings & attractive porches in many cases and separate coach house suites on top of the rear lane garage (ideal for a single person, inlaw or nanny). There are also several dual zone work/live designs with businesses on the main levels and the homes above.
Schools: Cornell Village Public School, Little Rouge Public School, Bur Oak Sec. School
